Take the classic interview prompt:
“Walk me through your resume.”
The Resume Walkthrough: Your First Serve
It seems straightforward, but it’s actually a golden opportunity to control the narrative. Think of it like the serve in tennis. It’s the one shot that’s entirely yours to shape. You decide the pace, the spin, the placement.
Too many people use that shot to deliver a chronological snoozefest. But the best candidates? They craft a story—a compelling, purposeful arc that leads right to the job they’re interviewing for.

Top 4 truths as an entrepreneur
Lots of buzz about being an entrepreneur. Students attend classes, work for start-ups, and begin ventures. There are centers on campuses and “best colleges” or “best MBAs” for entrepreneurship. We need entrepreneurs, this is where creativity and innovation come to the market. We build new things, we distribute hope and opportunity. Awesome. Also, not 100% as much of a party as movies and press like to make it. As an entrepreneur, I have a view of the truths.

When is "absolutely" a problem? When it is career advice.

Tech Industry history lesson: Yes, history repeats itself.
What we are seeing right now is not a new set of events. Numerous companies, especially start-ups closed doors in 2001-2003. The big business environment shuffled.
”I watched and experienced from the inside how individual careers were impacted. I think this first hand experience taught me a lot and has created insights on career strategy, particularly to ride the volatile waves of the business cycles.” - Archer Career CEO, Pam Schilling

Happy Thanksgiving | Gratitude, reflection
As I reflect on this holiday and season, I think about the original Thanksgiving. This celebration came from those hopeful for a new life in a new world and after enduring enormous hardship. The first Thanksgiving gathering brought the new colonists/Pilgrims and Native American allies together.
5 years ago, I embarked on a journey to a new world. Yes, very different than the Pilgrims. But, the uncertainty was there. Creating a software business, building an EdTech, that was the focus. We moved with our plans and began the work ahead. Then, encountered an unexpected storm - the covid pandemic.
This time has tested my leadership and particularly, my resilience, more than I would have ever thought possible.

In an interview, success is often determined by your ability to create connection, not just deliver content. Veterans sometimes underestimate this—thinking that facts and results should 'speak for themselves.' But in most hiring decisions, it’s how the story lands that tips the scales.
