About the job

In broad terms, you will be matched to a particular project which aligns business priorities to your interests. We are building off our progress to date with our market launch. In September 2020, we launched our software MVP, Archer Checklist and already have several customers using our 2 applications - Archer Checklist and Archer Case Prep. We several strategic partnerships in place with leading academic institutions (Chicago Booth, Univ. of Chicago, Babson College, Harvard Med School, Hope College, Illinois Tech, Univ. of Rochester and a few more!).

Your work as a Summer Intern will be to collaborate with our team to deliver your project and learn from the experience. Project areas include:

  • Business operations: Review and assess our current business operations, customer launches and internal processes. Review, benchmark, propose ideas, and work with the team to implement new ideas.

  • Product marketing: Apply digital marketing skills to develop ideas and execute our B2B marketing plans and awareness campaigns. This may involve work on our website, social media, email marketing, and product demos.

  • Data analytics: Build dashboards and analytics using Archer data. We collect survey data and data in our software, we want to find ways to evaluate and present to continue to define engagement and efficacy of our software.

  • Management/Human Resources: We value career and culture, and creating scalable operations. Work on a project to create the future of our customer success function. Create a best in class program, develop onboarding/training tools, develop position descriptions, and if approved, go forward with a hiring process.

The role and compensation

We are transparent with compensation (as well as all other aspects of the business). For 2023, the compensation structure for our interns will be as follows:

  • 10-12 week internship

  • $1,000-$3,000 monthly compensation (based on level of experience)

  • $100/monthly stipend for technology (internet/mobile phone)

  • Reside in Chicago the majority of the summer so we may have team meetings together weekly.

  • Work from home as you like or work from our Chicago Loop office. We work the way it makes sense.

  • Solid responsibilities with opportunity for impact and learning

  • 1-1 coaching and program participation to drive next year internship or full-time job search

What you bring

We are open to diverse backgrounds and are not looking for one specific profile. The must have characteristics include:

  • Working on a degree, Bachelor’s, Masters, MBA, or other graduate (doctorate). Given our customers are degree-awarding institutions, this perspective is necessary.

  • A clear passion for career advancement. This is critical and should be clear during our application process.

  • High confusion tolerance and can work with adaptability/flexibility

  • Can work successfully given specific direction and guidance, open to feedback even when highly critical

  • Extreme empathy, optimism, encouraging, but kick-in-the-ass style - with origins in career coaching, we are 100% the champion for our clients. Sometimes we hug, sometimes, we deliver tough messages. You need to easily move through these styles.

  • Creative. We like to try things, pilot, be bold, be fun! You must be willing to say, “I tried it, it did not work! But, here is what I would do with the lessons learned.”

  • Clear, structured, and rigorous approach to work - you will need to track your activity using a CRM approach. We are nimble but we value process.

  • Strong, demonstrated interest in technology and its application to our business.

  • Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of software applications including Invision, Tableau, Squarespace/Wordpress, project management software (we use Basecamp), etc. is a plus!

  • Strong and proactive communication skills, you won’t sit back, you will ask questions, share ideas, seek out clarity, update/inform the team - and do so both directly (by phone) and in writing (email or other).

  • Interest in working with a small team to contribute to our success, sharing and learning together, celebrating our success(es) and discussing our lessons learned.

Additional qualifications we believe helpful in this role:

  • Prior work doing coaching/mentoring/career advising, recruiting, or other career-focused activity.

  • Experience working in higher education, in education technology is also ideal.

Our interview process typically has 3 steps. Step 1 // 30 min conversation with an Archer Career team member.. Step 2 panel interview with a short case discussion, presentation, or work product creation. We value your time and you will be compensated $50 for this step (by way of an Amazon gift card). Step 3 // Either an offer or a follow-up meeting with Archer Career’s CEO.
