We are hiring Archer Growth Leaders. You will join our start-up team to drive our current growth objectives.
About the job
In broad terms, your role will be heavily involved in planning, executing, and leading various endeavors at our early stage of growth. In September 2020, we launched our software MVP and already have several customers using our 2 applications - Archer Job Search and Archer Case Prep. We several strategic partnerships in place with leading academic institutions (Chicago Booth, Univ. of Chicago, Babson, UT Austin, Johns Hopkins, Univ. of Wisconsin and a few more nearly finished!).
Your work as an Archer Growth Leader will be to drive business development and sales, with the following expectations.
Growth Plan - You will focus on a given area (region, school type, target segment, partner group) and create a plan. You will set your approach to achieving our sales goals.
Product Marketing - Working with our team, you will define what marketing materials are needed. We are a nimble software company - we appreciate digital and traditional marketing.
Business Development - Lead discovery call and meetings with customers to understand priorities, needs, existing tools/resources, and budgets.
Partnership Development - Conduct product/program demonstrations and create a partnership-level engagement. Show our collaborative approach and attention to shared goals.
Contracts/Agreements - Work with Archer Career’s leadership team to prepare and finalize contracts. Look for win-win and mutually beneficial contract opportunities that have a long-term mindset.
Market Feedback - Bring ideas to the Archer team that you hear from discovery. Help our team determine ever better ways to support job searches and career advancement, via a scalable platform.
Contribute - Engage with our energetic team that is fully committed to the careers of others, invest in the future of Archer Career to advance our organization and make us a “great place to work” where our First Principles are actions, not words.
The role and compensation
We anticipate, based on the individual interests/background, putting you into a position to drive high impact work - revenue growth. Each Growth Leader’s scope will be different, depending on your market focus and experience. We are tactical but also willing to make some big bets as we drive growth at this stage.
We are transparent with compensation (as well as all other aspects of the business). For 2022, the compensation structure for our Growth Leaders will be as follows:
$250/monthly stipend for technology (internet/mobile phone)
Sales quota of $150,000.
Sales commission, payable quarterly, is as follows:
50% commission up to $150,000 in sales
60% commission from $151,000-$200,000
75% commission on sales $201,000 and above
As part of our interview process, we will share our product-focus, contract sizes, sales cycles, and a compensation model for your review.
Of note, Archer Career has a large outreach database. We expect the contact work early on to leverage this extensively.

The must have characteristics include:
Possess a Bachelor’s degree.
A clear passion for career advancement.
You are a closer - you can handle the end-to-end process of business development (and sales). This involves extensive project management and follow-up.
High confusion tolerance and can work successfully in an environment of high ambiguity, with limited direction or by seeking out the direction you need.
Extreme empathy, optimism, encouraging, but kick-in-the-ass style - with orgins in career coaching, we are 100% the champion for our clients. Sometimes we hug, sometimes, we deliver tough messages. You need to easily move through these styles.
Creative. We like to try things, pilot, be bold, be fun! You must be willing to say, “I tried it, it did not work! But, here is what I would do with the lessons learned.”
Clear, structured, and rigorous approach to work - you will need to track your activity using a CRM approach. We are nimble but we value process.
Strong, demonstrated interest in technology and its application to our business.
Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and software applications including Invision, Tableau, Squarespace/Wordpress, project management software (we use Basecamp), etc.
Strong and proactive communication skills, you won’t sit back, you will ask questions, share ideas, seek out clarity, update/inform the team - and do so both directly (by phone) and in writing (email or other).
Interest in working with a small team to contribute to our success, sharing and learning together, celebrating our success(es) and discussing our lessons learned.
Additional qualifications we believe helpful in this role:
MBA, Masters, PhD - a strong base of our customers are graduate students.
Background/knowledge of one or more of the following: strategy (consulting or corporate), product management, product marketing, general management, investment banking, brand management, marketing, recruiting/executive search, business operations, policy, and other roles that are broad/problem solving-oriented.
Prior work doing coaching/mentoring/career advising, recruiting, or other career-focused activity.
Prior work in sales, business development, partnerships, ideally in a software company.
Experience working in higher education, in education technology is also ideal.

Our interview process typically has 3 steps. Step 1 // 30 min conversation with an Archer Career team member.. Step 2 panel interview with a short case discussion, presentation, or work product creation. We value your time and you will be compensated $50 for this step (by way of an Amazon gift card). Step 3 // Either an offer or a follow-up meeting with Archer Career’s CEO.
